Eric Seamans
Founder And Chief Executive Officer
Eric Seamans is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Seamans Media, a multimedia entity that focuses on high-level amateur sports in the baseball, golf, hockey, lacrosse, skiing, and soccer space across digital, television, podcast and print platforms. Eric founded the company in 1995 in his parents’ garage at the age of 25 with his father Robert J. Seamans, Sr. (1929-2001) and has grown Seamans Media into one of the largest regional sports media companies in the world.

The beginning
New England Hockey Journal is founded in a garage in Quincy, Mass., by Eric Seamans and his father, Robert J. Seamans Sr. (1929-2001)
1996
A new title
New England Ski Journal and SkiJournal.com launch.
1997
New frontier
HockeyJournal.com launches as one of the first-ever regional hockey websites.
2008
Onto the field
New England Lacrosse Journal and LaxJournal.com debut.
2010
Up at bat
New England Baseball Journal and BaseballJournal.com launch.
2011
Moving the boundary
With the start of New York Hockey Journal and NYHockeyJournal.com, Seamans Media expands
beyond New England for the first time.

Onto the pitch

Changing seasons
New England Ski Journal publishes its first Summer and Fall Editions and launches a TV show in prime time on Comcast SportsNet New England.

Changing channels
New England Hockey Journal TV moves to New England Sports Network (NESN), home of the Boston Bruins and Boston Red Sox.
2018
Transformation
Seamans Media undergoes a major business model change and embraces a digital-first strategy with a paywall for the first time. New websites roll out for New England Hockey Journal, New England Soccer Journal and New York Hockey Journal.
2019
The change continues
New websites, along with a paywall, arrive for New England Lacrosse Journal and New England Baseball Journal.
2020
Another new platform
Seamans Media launches its first podcast and builds a state-of-the-art podcast studio at its headquarters in Milton, Mass.
2021
Building the network
Seamans Media launches a podcast network, with relaunched programs for hockey (“RinkWise”), lacrosse (“Chasing the Goal”) and baseball (“The Base Path”) and soccer (“The Goal”) originating from its new podcast studio.
2022
hitting the slopes
New England Ski Journal adds the fifth title to the Seamans Media podcast network with the “Basecamp” podcast.
2024
Onto the court
New England Basketball Journal and BasketballJournal.com debut, along with the HoopWise podcast.
