What's New at Seamans Media
Seamans moves into historic new digs
Seamans Media, Inc., has moved its editorial and administrative offices to historic Quincy Center.
After 14 years in North Quincy, Seamans now makes it headquarters in the Granite Trust building at 1400 Hancock St. in Quincy, Mass. Seamans Media -- which was founded in a garage in Quincy in 1995 -- occupies the Seventh Floor of the building, which was built in 1929 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
The building, now the home of Bank of America, stands in Quincy Center, which is undergoing an impressive redevelopment plan to incorporate more business, entertainment and residential projects in downtown Quincy.
"This is another sign of the growth and expansion of our company," said Eric Seamans, founder and President of Seamans Media, Inc. "As we continue to expand our portfolio of multimedia sports platforms and grow our full-time staff, we needed a larger, more distinctive office space to continue producing quality sports content for all of our publications and websites."
The move follows the launch in January of New York Hockey Journal and nyhockeyjournal.com, Seamans' fifth pair of monthly magazines and websites.
Seamans Media, Inc., also publishes New England Hockey Journal (hockeyjournal.com), New England Lacrosse Journal (laxjournal.com), New England Baseball Journal (baseballjournal.com), and New England Ski Journal (skijournal.com).
Beato tabbed as Managing Editor
Seamans Media, Inc., named veteran editor and sports journalist Eric Beato as its new full-time Managing Editor, overseeing the editorial content for its print and online platforms.
Beato, who also will serve as Executive Vice President, serves as the day-to-day editor of both New England Hockey Journal and New England Baseball Journal and oversees and designs Seamans' other monthly print publications, including New York Hockey Journal, New England Lacrosse Journal and New England Ski Journal.
"This is a huge step for our media properties and the future of our company," said Eric Seamans, the Founder and President of Seamans Media, Inc. "Eric has been a valuable contributor to our publications for years, and we're excited to have him on our team full-time."
Beato brings an extensive background of experience to Seamans Media. He spent 20-plus years as a writer and editor at daily newspapers across the country, including the Boston Herald and Chicago Sun-Times. For most of the past 10 years, he also was the Design Editor of New England Hockey Journal, Seamans' flagship property.
"I'm thrilled to join Seamans Media full-time," Beato said. "It's an exciting time for the company, which continues to expand and evolve. I look forward to contributing to the success of all of our publications and helping deliver quality sports content to all of our readers."
Chamberlain named Editor of New England Ski Journal
Tony Chamberlain, a Boston-based journalist who worked as a full-time staff member of The Boston Globe for more than 30 years, takes over as Editor of New England Ski Journal.
In 1988, he helped the Globe launch the weekly Ski Section (now Snowsports), which he edited until 2007, when he retired from the Globe staff. He still writes for Snowsports and the Globe. He covered ski racing at the Lake Placid Olympics in 1980 and has covered every Winter Olympics since then, along with several world and national Alpine championships. Chamberlain has written for several national magazines and is the author of two books on skiing.
